We will be there to welcome you on arrival and pick you up from the airport. Please let us know your exact arrival time. Once you have settled into your room, we will sit down for dinner together. Most likely, we will be serving our homemade traditional Spaghetti Bolognese (we will need the carbs for the days ahead!), but do share any dietary preferences or requirements and we will happily accommodate them.
If you are feeling energised (we usually are!), we can head straight into the rainforest for a jungle night walk, keeping an eye out for tarsiers, frogs, bats, birds, and other wildlife. If you would prefer a more relaxed start after your journey, we can unwind with a drink by the pool while trying to spot silvery langurs and oriental pied hornbills in the garden - there is even a chance a monitor lizard might wander by to say hello.
After a quick breakfast with eggs from the chickens in our garden, along with coffee or tea, we will head out towards the rainforest for our first jungle trek. We can set off on a four-hour morning hike and return home for lunch. After a relaxed meal and a well-earned siesta, we can head back out for a different three- to four-hour trek, exploring more of the rainforest and nearby waterfalls.
If you are in the mood for something different, the afternoon can take us to the beach instead. We can bring a surfboard if the waves are right, gather some driftwood, light a fire, and enjoy a BBQ on a deserted beach while swapping jungle stories. Alternatively, we can opt for a boat tour along the Bruneian river (additional charges apply), where we will try to spot proboscis monkeys (endemic to Borneo), crocodiles, otters, a variety of birds, macaques, silvery langurs, and more.
Depending on your preference and fitness level, you might choose to do a full-day hike instead. In that case, we will set off a little earlier (around 06:00) for a slightly longer drive before embarking on a six- to seven-hour jungle trek, bringing our lunch along with us and preparing it on a small stove in the jungle. After a full day in the rainforest, we will return home for dinner - perhaps even ordering in for a well-deserved treat.
If there is still energy left in the tank, we can head out again for another jungle night walk and see what wildlife we can discover after dark. Maybe a colugo, slow loris or civet will greet us tonight!
After a good night’s sleep, we will wake up at 06:00 (or a little later if you prefer). Following a quick breakfast with coffee or tea, we will set off for one final off-the-beaten-track jungle experience. We will aim for a four-hour trek, bringing us back home in time for lunch. If you would rather stay out longer, we can pack lunch and enjoy more time deep in the rainforest.
We will plan to be back around 13:00. After some time to rest and pack, we will take you back to the airport for your departure. If your journey continues on to Sarawak or Sabah, we can also help arrange a taxi to take you onwards - just let us know, and we will be happy to organise it for you.
