It was an incredible experience - we encountered the remarkable proboscis monkeys, crocodiles, a huge monitor lizard, lots of beautiful birdlife, including hawks and kingfishers, and even an otter! Even though we had seen some of these animals in Sabah earlier in our holiday, the fact that we were alone on the river, without any other tourists, made this truly a special experience.

The jungle trekking was simply amazing, indeed, off-the-beaten track. We did several hikes already in Malaysia, but this was always on boardwalks and often also with others. Now it was just us with our private guide and there were no paths or trails most of the time, it was pure jungle trekking and we had to find our own pathway.

We have hiked in many countries around the world, but hiking in Brunei is now at the top of our favourites. Thanks to the professional and especially enthusiastic guidance of our private guide, we had a proper adventure - finding our own path through unspoiled jungle. This is one of a kind!
